This is a fine example of white to light green Chrysoprase. It weighs approximately 5 kgs with very little matrix and few visible inclusions. A great piece for a talented carver.

Great Gem & Mineral Shows

Posted by Administrator on October 10, 2011 at 7:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Two very different venues for two great Gem and Mineral Shows. The mighty  Hong Kong Gem and Jewellery Show so big that the venue above right is only half the show.

The Denver Show likewise is spread out and although not as glamorous as the Hong Kong is equally important to the Mineral and Fossil sector of our industry.

Great attendance at both shows this year and great business done.

Chrysoprase Cameo

An unbelieveable find at our mine by our friend Bill, Chrysoprase Cameo. A luscious sandwich of rich green between pure white Chrysoprase. This is the only cameo material that we have found in the last 10 years at least. This should provide us with some exciting carvings and stones.

Chrysoprase in Ironstone

Most of our Chrysoprase comes in seam form out of soil or clay. Some comes as a seam form in large boulders and another type comes in ironstone as shown in the picture below. All beautiful and all capable of producing fine gemstones.

What a  great sight lots and lots of green ore. After an extra-ordinary wet season we can now venture into the tailings and off lease areas and recover Chrysoprase washed down by the incessant rains.

This been one of he best recovery periods in some time and after washing grading and packing there will be good quantities of all grades for sale.

Dawn Service In Marlborough

Posted by Administrator on April 25, 2011 at 7:21 PM Comments comments (0)

Chrysoprase took a break this Monday as Australia and in particular the tiny town of Marlborough, paid homage to its fallen soldiers. As is customary in every town, village and city across Australia the community gathers before dawn to commemorate the fallen. The sombre service is held just before dawn and includes the ode

" They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old, age shall not weary them nor the years condemn, at the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will rember them ...Lest We Forget"

The Dawn Service in Marlborough, was conducted by our friend Bill Stacey, and was followed as is tradition by a Community Breakfast. Almost all of the 65 people population attended this sombre and patriotic event.

Chrysoprase Thieves

Posted by Administrator on March 13, 2011 at 9:25 PM Comments comments (5)

A number of Chrysoprase dealers have been offering material taken illegally from the Marlborough Chrysoprase leases. Police have been notified and the hunt is on for trespassers and thieves. None of the Chrysoprase leases in Marlborough are open to any kind of fossicking and anyone caught on these sites will be prosecuted. Buying Chrysoprase from these individuals is the same as accepting stolen property so beware as you too could end up in court. Remember buy your Chrysoprase from reputable and honest dealers. We will be only too pleased to verify any dealer as having having authentically acquired the Marlborough Chrysoprase they are selling.

Mine Visit February 2011

Our first visit since the torrential rains from Cyclone Yaris and things werent too bad. Some earth movement and a few erosion gullies filled up, mother nature helping with re- habilitation. The roads are starting to look a bit worn though and access to our remote Southern Lease required removing a few fallen trees and boulders- all in a days work at Marlborough. Had an unexpected meeting with a large brown snake, fortunately he was as shocked as we were and he left in a hurry - boy they can move quickly when they want to.

Exploration activity up there has increased and drill teams are everywhere.

Lovely 3.5 kgs piece of Marlborough Chrysoprase.
